Christmas Exhibition "Bearing Gifts"

“Bearing Gifts” - The Christmas Exhibition at Old Chapel Gallery, Pembridge starts on Saturday November 12th 2011 with a selection of hand picked, hand made delights! Give the High Street a miss this Christmas and shop for unique British made presents in the calm and tranquil atmosphere of the gallery.

We will be featuring a cornucopia of wonderful Christmas present ideas from the best of British artists and makers, including Christmas decorations, jewellery, glass, ceramics, bronzes, sculpture, wearables,  hand made cards, soaps, candles and prints, all with Christmas shopping in mind.

Amongst the new work on display will be ceramics by Helen Martino. She describes her pieces as “serious, posh and frivolous”. Her sculptures depict moments in the  everyday life of people. Hand built and each one individual, Helens sculptures are intimate in size and tell of a single moment or event and yet they infer a past and future story to be filled by the viewer.
We welcome back Blake and Janette McKinnon to the gallery with a new selection of porcelain jewellery including earrings and necklaces, a must for any festive occasion.  New to the gallery is Charlie Jeanes who has created a selection of chunky silver jewellery and Chrissie Nash will show a stunning range of her latest necklaces in semi precious stones with hand made silver catches.

Wood turner Peter  Crook produces a range of decorative and functional bowls using native and exotic woods. Each piece is unique and hand crafted and reveals the creative vision of the maker.

We will have an original collection of Christmas tree decorations  by various makers in  papier mache, fused glass, copper and recycled book paper.

On the original art front  we will be showing new work  by Ann McCay, Erica Herbert , Seren Bell, Vicky Jackson, Silvia Pastore and Robert Palmer among others.

To keep you cosy this winter there is a new collection of knitwear, some felted, from Katie Mawson,  Sophies Wild Woollens and Nicky Thomson and hand painted silk velvet scarves by Parker and Arrol.
