A delightful and collectable collection of ceramic sculpture has just arrived at the gallery.
John Maltby is recognised worldwide as one of Britain’s finest ceramic artists. Born in 1936, he studied sculpture at Leicester and Goldsmith’s College, London and worked with David Leach at his pottery before establishing his own workshop in 1964. He initially made domestic ceramics but since the mid seventies he has made only individual pieces. His work is represented in many ceramic collections including the V&A in London.
New work includes lidded boxes, sculptural figures and framed wall pieces.
